Victory For the God-given Institution of Marriage

The Rev Fred Nile, leader of the Christian Democratic Party thanked the NSW Legislative Council for voting against the Same Sex Homosexual Marriage Bill.

Paul Green, my CDP colleague also gave an impassioned speech, and led the Pro-marriage politicians in the House. 

“Marriage and the family is the basic unit, the foundation, the bedrock, or load bearing beam of society”, Paul Green said.

The final results of the vote, 19 voted for same sex marriage and 21 politicians against. The Bill was introduced by Penny Sharpe, and supported by members of the Liberal, Labor, Nationals and Greens parties.

This is a great outcome for the common good of society, including the welfare of children, and the civil freedoms of religious people. I congratulate the majority of Members who voted against the Same Sex Marriage Bill.

I understand the outcome has disappointed many in the homosexual community; however the passing of this Bill would have caused more division, not less in our society.

“I am amazed that some members thought that this Bill would strengthen marriage, and missed the whole negative outcome of the Bill if it had passed”.
